Grasslands Regional FCSS funds for the Brooks Youth Summer Volunteer Program, or better know as Summer Superhero’s! This program was created to introduce volunteering to the community’s youth. Ran as a day camp out of Ashton’s Place, kids aged from 11 -18 were all welcome to enjoy the summer helping others, as well as having fun!
Vernon Boldick was this year’s Program Coordinator, and what an excellent job he did! He had the group volunteering at various places throughout the week, including BAPS , Newbrook Lodge, Salvation Army and The Cantara Safe House. These kids did an excellent job as they developed friendships with one another and relationships with the non-profit organizations.
But what is volunteering without some fun? Vernon had numerous outdoor activities planned that the youth thoroughly enjoyed!
